Hima Das the First Indian Women athletics to win Gold IAAF world tittle:

Hima Das was nailed from Assam kandhulimari village of Dhing. Daughter of rice-farmer Ronjit and Jonali Das. She is youngest of four children. She finished her schooling from Dhing public school in her village. Hima began playing football from childhood. She played games at her school with the boys to purse her career in football.

Hima Football career going well,she got many medals. Oneday, Shamsul Hoque noticed that she was having unique talent in running and he suggested her to athletics. Hima started participating in short and middle distance races.

Hoque introduced Gowri Shankar Roy of the Nagon Sports Association to Hima. With the help of coaching at Nagon Sports Association. She qualified for inter district competition and won 2 gold medals at sports meet. Nipon Das, an athletics coach asked her to shift Guwahati for training. Hima and her parents agreed to the proposal. She moved accommodation near the sarusajai sports complex and got enrolled to state academy. Then a separate wing was started for athletics.

Hima created history in Tampere, Finland by winning the gold medal at the IAAF world Championship 2018 commonwealth Games in the women’s 400m. Hima Clocked 51.46sec. She revered 50 Lakes by Assam Government for her achievement.
